Every popular blogger is using Feedburner to burn their RSS feeds because it is free feature rich system that cannot turn down. It provides feed optimization option, statistics, feed publication option and many more. Using Google Analytics and Feedburner is must for Every WordPress blog. In this article we will show you How to Setup FeedBurner Feeds for Your WordPress Blog.
Why Feedburmer is Important for WordPress Bloggers?
Feedburner is free service that contains lots of options that you do not get with default WordPress feed. Some of features include:
- Give Your Users multiple options to Subscribe such as Email, and other feed-readers (Google, Netvibes etc)
- Social Proof (Subscriber Count)
- Statics about your RSS Subscriber so you can analyse and optimize your blog posts
- Options to customize your feeds such as modification of post branding, headings, content and more
- Option to ping in various feed-reading services once you publish your posts
- Integrate Google Adsense to monetize RSS feeds
There is just short list of features, you can see that it must have for all over the blogs. Now, you can move to the setting up of Feedburner Account.
Setup FeedBurner Feeds for Your WordPress Blog
First of all, you need to have a Google Account (any Gmail ID will work). Visit Feedburner Service Page to start Feeds Process.
In the Initial Step, you need type the link of Your WordPress Blog feed. If you have SEO friendly WordPress URL Structure, then your feed link should be like yourdomain.com/feed/

You need to enter the Blog feed URL in the “Burn a feed right this instant” field.

The feed address and original blog you entered has been verified.
Here is the next step in setup process:
The new FeedBurner account is activated.
You can set more optional traffic stats tracking and podcasting Services.
Give your Feed Title and feedburner.com Address:
In next step, you have to select the title of your feed and address of your feed. It is advised to keep the name of title same as of your blog. It is best to keep your feed address memorable and short.
Step: 2 Creation of Feedburner Account
Now, your feeds account has been created, so don’t need to follow the steps anymore. Click on the Skip button directly to Feed Management.
Congrats ! Your FeedBurner feed is Now Live. Want to dress up it Little ?
Subscribe to your feed
Step: 3 Go to Feed Management
You will see the page with multiple links of various programming platforms. Just, Ignore all these links as revisit them later and click on the optimize tab that you see at the top of image given below:
Step 4: Click on the Optimize Tab
In next step, we will work to optimize your WordPress blog feed. You just need to make sure that the Browser friendly, Feedflare and Smart Feed options are activated. Moreover, you can activate other services if you want to, because three services activation is mandatory. Browser Friendly makes the subscription much simpler than before. SmartFeed ensures maximum compatibility with all feed reader applications. FeedShare builds Interactivity into posts by additional email and other sharing options.
Step 5: Publicize Your Feeds
In this step, we will see all the options for feed. You have to allow Email Subscriptions on your website because there are various users who prefers to get updates rather than using Google reader.
Pingshot is activated because notify the services when you published the post. Feedcount widget allows you to display the subscriber count. This is one of the best and popular Social media Method.

Step 7: Integrate Feedburner into WordPress
Although, you have created your FeedBurner account in above steps, but you haven’t integrated with your WordPress Yet. First thing you have to do is stop making down your feeds and make it one. You just need to create a redirect, so when your users try to visit yourdomain.com/feed they are redirected to your feedburner feed Page. In this way, you can track your Subscribers on the blog.
There is WordPress plugin Called FD FeedBurner which allows you to create redirect easily. You can redirect your feeds using .htaccess file but I will not be share any method because it is not something I recommend for beginner’s.
How to Configure FD FeedBurner Plugin in WordPress ?
Configuring FD Feedburner WordPress Plugin is a herculean task. Don’t Worry, I will provide you an easy way to configure it with the relevant Screenshots according to my blog Configuration.
Install FD Feedburner from Plugins or upload it in your WordPress.
In Next Step, Go to Setting >> Feedburner
Fill your Feedburner URL in Redirect my feeds here box.
Leave the next field same as shown above. For Advanced Options setting, If you also don’t want to redirect search results feeds and author feeds same like me, then. Tick Mark on the Check box as I have done in My Feed Configuration.
Add the Email Subscribe Box On your Site
Firstly, Go to Feedburner Account >>Publicize >> Email Subscription
Copy and paste the code in YourDomain.com (WordPress) >> Appearance >> Widget >> Side Bar >> Text Box
Remember to Customize the look of Email form, you would need to have prior knowledge of HTML and CSS.
